Sepsis in Urgent Care

Lochlin’s Law, named after a young boy who passed away from sepsis, requires hospitals and urgent care centers to provide training and implementation of evidence-based protocols for the early identification and treatment of sepsis, severe sepsis, and septic shock.

Urgent Care Centers from across the state attending this forum will share clinical protocols and discuss the possibility of building sepsis screening tools into electronic health records, handoff communications, transfer protocols, and patient/caregiver education. This event will support compliance with the law and offer a platform for sharing best practices to improve patient safety at urgent care centers in Maryland.
