Presentations and Educational Sessions: Grand Rounds; presentations for QI/Safety Committees, Executive Leadership, Board): We offer one-hour educational and interactive sessions on general patient safety topics, as well as more focused on Perinatal/Neonatal patient safety.
Patient Safety Tools: The Maryland Patient Safety Center will bring to your organization educational sessions on the tools of patient safety, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA). These 5-hour sessions for up to 60 participants can be general, or tailored to specific patient safety events/ areas of risk in your organization.
Safe Tables at your organization: The Maryland Patient Safety Center will facilitate legally-protected patient safety conversations for purposes of learning. These 2-hour sessions can include up to 30 staff, and focus on areas of specific patient safety concerns at your organization, or more generally on ED safety issues as a result of overcrowding and boarding; perinatal safety topics; and medication safety topics.
Risk Assessments: MPSC experts will review organizational indicators and other data, as well as some of your key your policies and clinical guidelines, order sets, use of evidence-based patient safety tools and interventions, and your quality and patient safety structures. This will include document review, and a combination of virtual and in-person interviews. MPSC experts will identify your areas of highest risk and recommend specific improvements, and this will be provided to the organization in presentation-style to allow for discussion and engagement. Perinatal: The Maryland Patient Safety Center offers Perinatal Risk Assessments to Maryland’s birthing hospitals to help identify opportunities to improve birth outcomes, and improve health equity for all birthing people. The Maryland Patient Safety Center offers a comprehensive organizational perinatal risk assessment, or a more focused perinatal risk consultation around a specific area of concern to the organization.
